Reflections and contemplations …
Post-Traumatic Growth Beyond Symptom Reduction.
Perhaps you have had a chapter of psychological therapy or intervention, and are now more stable, and yet feeling as if something is missing? Perhaps feeling strange to experience spaciousness of headspace and inner climate different from the “fire-fighting” season? Perhaps grieving too the years lost on traumatic states?
This is a natural in between space, albeit awkward and yet hold much transformative potential: getting to know your deeper self and gifts beyond the burdens of conditioning and survival.
This also offers a unique window to deepen your self-awareness, to recognise and let go of patterns, habits, roles based on conditioning, to make choices and take actions in cultivating a flourishing life direction.
Dreamwork.
Dreamwork can be a natural illuminative and transformative process, harnessing on your innate inner wisdom embodied in your nervous system, as well as a direct somatic bridge to process residues of trauma.
When clinically indicated and with your explicit consent, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) — can be sensitively integrated into this process, whilst honouring non-linear harnessing of transformative potential when contextually aligned.
Humility.
More and more I wonder perhaps humility is rarely a mere intellectual choice or a purely moral stance; rather, a profound somatic marker of nervous system, ontological, systemic safety? Perhaps only from a place of experienced dignity, can the nervous system afford to lower its necessary survival and self-preservation mechanisms. In the ongoing cultivation of inner and systemic safety, we ever find the courage to be found by mystery and beauty, to welcome the unexpected, to behold our human limitations beyond shame, blame, rushing to conclusions. Perhaps humility is the body's quiet confirmation that it finally feels safe enough to relax, steward, and love?
